Fire and Fireplace Installation
They visited our showroom to have a look at our displays and to discuss what may be suitable for their home and arrangements were made for an engineer to visit their property to check the chosen fire and fireplace would be suitable for their existing fireplace and chimney.
The chimney would be smoke tested to confirm its suitability to accept a gas fire – this is done by lighting a smoke bomb in the fireplace opening and checking the rooms and roof space above to check that no smoke is escaping into them.
On the home visit the engineer checked the dimensions of the existing fireplace, so when the customers had chosen their preferred fireplace and we would carry out the fire and fireplace installation it would fit the space available, the chimney for suitability for a gas fire and the availability of an incoming gas service and pipework.
Once these checks had been made we gave advice to which fire and fireplaces would be suitable so the customers could select what they wanted.
Next an agreement was made on the costs involved to supply and fit the fire and fireplace and these included removing and disposing of the old fire and fireplace and supplying the new fire, fireplace and hearth. Additionally, if necessary, making good the plaster around the fireplace and any pipework for the gas supply.
Once the original fire and fireplace had been removed our engineers fitted a cast iron surround inlaid with Victorian style ceramic tiles finished with an outer surround of polished oak. The gas fire is laid on a honed granite hearth, and the fire, fireplace and hearth are from Capital Fireplaces.
The customers were very satisfied with the final result and we are proud to have completed another gas fire and fireplace surround project locally here in Devon.
