Most people’s image of a wood burning stove is a traditional cast iron stove in an inglenook fireplace. However, you do not need to have a chimney to install a stove and the stove does not have to be traditional in style. There are many contemporary stoves on the market, both for use with a chimney and without.

We had customers enquire if a wood burning stove could be fitted in their modern house which did not have a chimney. We visited their home to do a free survey to check the property for suitability for installing a flue system for the stove they had selected.

A position was selected on the outside wall of the living room and firstly our engineers installed a made -to -size dressed granite hearth. This provides a level base for the stove which is essential to protect the floor from the heat of the stove.

Likewise, it is necessary to fit a back panel and our customers chose tiles from Waxman Ceramics from the Muro range.

We then installed the Capital Contour stove along with the flue system.
