Whatever the reason, installing a new bathroom is a serious undertaking and can be deceptively problematic. Bathrooms need quite a lot of fittings which usually have to fit in a very compact space – not to mention the technical skill involved in fitting bathrooms. For this reason, seeking advice from an experienced bathroom planner (such as here at Simon Turner Showrooms!) will ensure that you plan what is needed and suitable for your space to help avoid expensive mistakes and changes down the line.
With that in mind here are 4 tips for choosing a new bathroom suite.
1. Use Your Logic
Wet rooms look amazing, but if you have small children running in and out the shower glass sides can be dangerous as well as the amount of water that builds up on the floor. Similarly, floating sinks with no pedestal underneath can become very dangerous swinging devices for children.
A deep bath can be difficult to get into if you have bad knees or if it is for an older person. Therefore, it is important to consider who will be using the bathroom on a daily basis.
2. Know Your Bathroom Space Requirements
You might have a small compact bathroom and would love to have a free-standing Victorian style bath. Knowing your bathroom measurements and what will and will not fit can save you heartache and expense later on during fitting. We at Simon Turner Showrooms can advise you of the most suitable fittings for your bathroom’s size and shape.
3. What Style Bathroom Suite Do You Want?
There are many styles of bathroom suites to choose from such as modern square, traditional Victorian/Edwardian or very contemporary. Which one suits you and your requirements will need careful consideration. For example: –
– ‘Do you want your bathroom to match the same style as the rest of your home or be a stand-alone design statement?’
– ‘Is the style of your bathroom refurbishment suitable for your family needs?’
– ‘So you have a tight budget that will need something simple in design?’
When you decide what style you want your bathroom to be it will make it easier to select a sink, bath, toilet etc. as you can then eliminate anything not in that style.
4. Think of the future
You may be a single now and would like a wet room with black marble tiling, but what if you met your future partner soon after fitting is complete? They may prefer a soak in a bath or if you have children in the future they will need one. Also, if you later sell your house, particularly if it is a family sized home with one bathroom, a house with a bath sells better than a house without one. Additionally, if you have room and only one bathroom we would suggest a bath/shower combination.
